I had been playing a 10.5 degree FT-IZ Tour with a “real” Voodoo SVS6. The backup is a 10.5 Taylormade Burner with a stock stiff. Both are very good. The Burner is straighter; the FT-IZ might be longer. The Burner could not replace the FT-IZ because it would definitely require a reshaft. Not a bad stock shaft, just not particularly controllable on less than good swings. The FT-IZ, even with a good shaft, has not been the fairway finder that the old FTI Callaway was. My old G15 with a Serrano shaft was a pretty good driver; long and forgiving.
Ping Anser Forged IronsAccordingly, I thought that I would try my luck with the K15, which is a supposedly straighter G15. This K15 is a 10.5 degree head with a stiff stock shaft.
No driver will hit itself. A bad swing with this club will not do dead straight, but the bad effects are significantly reduced. This is a driver for anyone looking to hit more fairways. If you are looking to work the ball, do not buy this driver. It’s interesting that Ping could offer an all titanium driver at the $299 price point that is more solid than Callaway’s Fusion technology at the $399 price point. It makes you wonder if Callaway isn’t overselling the fusion technology. I have already sold my FT-IZ
