You can travel to Lefkimi and Kavos of Corfu by car, boat, bus, hydroplane or plane.
By plane from abroad
During the summer there are daily charter flights that connect directly many European cities with Corfu. To locate such flights, you should use Google (http://www.google.com) or another search engine. Note that the international code for the Athens airport "Eleftherios Venizelos" (http://www.aia.gr/) is "ATH" and for the Corfu airport "Ioannis Kapodistrias" is "CFU".
An alternative is to travel up to Athens and then change flight (transit flight) with destination Corfu. Most airlines have flights with destination Athens. We propose checking the itineraries of Olympic and Aegean airlines, that they also have flights from Athens to Corfu.
From the airport of Corfu, if you have not arranged a car rental, you can travel to Lefkimi and Kavos by bus or taxi.
By plane from Athens or Thessaloniki
Corfu is connected by air with Athens and Thessaloniki daily with Olympic (http://www.olympicairlines.com/) and Aegean (http://www.aegeanairlines.gr/). In autumn and winter there are at least 4 daily flights to Corfu while during tourist periods there usually are more flights.
By hydroplane from Patras and Ioannina
The company AirSea Lines (http://www.airsealines.com/) connects Patras and Ioannina with Corfu since 2004. In their web site you will find more information on timetables and charges.
By boat from Italy
Italy is connected with Greece with frequent ship routes from Bari, Brindisi, and Ancona and final destination Patras. In-between they stop to Corfu or Igoumenitsa. The companies that follow such routes are listed analytically in the following paragraph.
By boat from Patras
Ships to Italy depart from Patras every evening (21:00 – 24:00). Some stop to Corfu and some to Igoumenitsa around sunrise. The companies that stop to Corfu are: ANEK Lines (http://www.anek.gr/), Minoan Lines (http://www.minoan.gr/) and HML (tel.: 0030-210 4225341). The companies that stop to Igoumenitsa are: AGOUDIMOS LINES (tel.: 0030 - 210 4141300-6), BLUE STAR FERRIES (http://www.bluestarferries.com/) and SUPER FAST FERRIES (http://www.superfast.com/).
You can look for further information on ship companies with international connections in the relative web page of the Greek National Tourism Organisation (GNTO) (http://www.gnto.gr/pages.php?pageID=54&langID=1) and in the page with routes from Patras (http://www.gnto.gr/pages.php?pageID=76&langID=1). You can also look in the web sites of the companies or call Patras Port Authority (tel.: 0030 - 2610 341002 and 2610 341024).
By boat from Igoumenitsa
There are daily ferryboat departures from Igoumenitsa port to Lefkimi port. The trip is approximately 1 hour long. When planning your trip you should contact Igoumenitsa Port Authority and ask for ferryboat timetables for the specific date of travel.
By Corfu bus
Another choice, the cheapest of all, is to travel from Athens or Thessaloniki to Corfu by KTEL bus. Corfu KTEL buses make daily itineraries from Athens and Thessaloniki to Lefkimi and Corfu town. Buses depart in the morning (06:00 – 09:00) and in the evening (18:00 – 20:00) from Kifisos KTEL bus station in Athens and Thessaloniki bus station, next to the main railway station.
It is essential to book your ticket in advance, since tickets are sold-out relatively fast. Choose the line Athens – Lefkimi – Corfu to get to Lefkimi and save the 2-3 extra hours that KTEL buses take to go from Corfu town to Lefkimi and Kavos.
If your departure point is not Athens or Thessaloniki, note that you can catch Corfu KTEL buses at any node of the route.
For more information visit the KTEL web site (http://www.ktel.org/), (tel.: 0030 – 210 5129443 Athens and 0030 - 2310 595409 Thessaloniki).
By road
If you choose to ride your own car to Corfu, you should drive to Igoumenitsa and then catch a ferry to Lefkimi and Kavos. Note that Igoumenitsa is approximately 6-7 hours drive from Athens and almost the same from Thessaloniki.
